The single storage scale is the largest in Sichuan's history.
According to data provided by the Provincial Department of Commerce from April 29th to May 5th, the weekly pig purchase price of 180 slaughter enterprises in Sichuan was 13.43 yuan per kilogram, a decrease of 1.47% from the previous week, setting a new low in Sichuan's pig purchase price in nearly three years. Monitoring of pork wholesale enterprises such as Chengdu Agricultural Products Center Wholesale Market Co., Ltd. shows that the wholesale price of fresh pork this week was 18.15 yuan per kilogram, a decrease of 1.84% from the previous week. The significant change in pork prices is due to the positive production situation since August last year, which has led to a high enthusiasm of farmers to replenish their pens and sufficient production capacity. However, after the Spring Festival, the demand for pork has declined, and the market supply exceeds demand. At the same time, the cost of breeding is increasing, and pig farmers are losing more than 100 yuan per pig sold.
The Provincial Department of Commerce introduced that the frozen pork storage plan aims to stabilize the market price of live pigs, prevent significant fluctuations in market prices, and enhance the confidence of farmers in the future market. With the arrival of the peak demand for New Year's Day and Spring Festival next year, pork prices may experience a significant increase. This batch of frozen pork will be put into the market around the peak demand season of New Year's Day and Spring Festival next year, playing a role in "peak shaving and valley filling".
The storage period for frozen pork is from May 8th to June 8th, and it should be stored before June 8th. 25 enterprises including Sichuan Jinzhong Food Co., Ltd. are responsible for the reserve task. During the storage period, each city and state should check the progress of storage every 10 days; Check the inventory status at least once a month after storage to ensure good quality.
